Pickler lived in a challenging environment. For the sake of leaving an abusive partner, Pickler's mother left when she was barely 2 years young. The mother of Pickler returned to her life and took full custody. The situation did not work out the way she had hoped. When she turned 12, the judge returned Pickler to her grandparents - who took care of her until she reached adulthood. Pickler needed to look after of her children without parents.
